“Stetson Farm” is part of the ‘Lone Pine Cowboys’ series by Maggie Carpenter. Each book can be read as a complete standalone, although you’ll find the connections between provide more depth when you read them in order.
Cody works for a local rancher and he’s a natural at dealing with horses. He loves what he does, but he’s hiding secrets that he just can’t share with anyone – especially with the woman who interests him more than any other ever has. Bethany and her mother have been on the run from a terrible person who casts a long and frightening shadow over their lives. She’s been interested in Cody since the first time she met him, and the opportunity to learn how to ride from him is one she can’t resist. I don’t want to say much more about the plot, because I don’t want to ruin it for you, but it’s an entertaining one. The physical attraction between Cody and Bethany is intense. When they decide to explore their connection, it quickly becomes more than either of them could have even hoped.
Cool full I thought this story was paced well; it kept things moving without going too fast or too slow. There were unexpected developments about the characters and the plot. The secondary characters gave more depth and dimension to the story. I particularly liked Bethany’s mother and the awesome veterinarian. The ending was a good one and left me interested in reading more stories that take place in the world the author created.
