Unscripted with Mila by Melanie Moreland

Release Date: Available Now

“Unscripted with Mila” is a book by Melanie Moreland that will touch your heart and may change your opinion about several things. It’s the final book in the series of interconnected standalone stories in the Vested Interest world. More specifically, it’s the final book focused on the second-generation of beloved characters. It doesn’t matter if you’ve never read a single book by this author before – jump right in, and you’ll be glad you did.

Mila is a romance author who is an introvert when not around people she already knows well, which is primarily her large, extended family and a few trusted others. The reasons for her reclusive behavior become understandable when revealed. One of her books is so successful that it’s going to be made into a movie. She couldn’t be more excited because she convinced those in charge of the production to cast her favorite actor in the lead role. Nick is a successful actor with a rocky history of rehab stays and occasional erratic behavior. It’s not without reason, but nobody knows the truth. He’s a powerhouse on screen and loves nothing more than getting lost in each role because it’s better than being himself. Mila and Nick have multiple meet-cute moments that you’ll have to read to understand. There’s an instant attraction between them, but more importantly, each finds in the other a kindred spirit. But of course, hidden secrets and external forces keep pulling them apart.

This is a well-paced, beautifully written story with characters so real you’ll think they might walk out of the pages of the book. In fact, you might wish they would! The internal obstacles faced by Mila and Nick are painfully real. It’s easy to see that the author researched deeply the issues covered in the story, and she conveys them with mindful sensitivity. The epilogue is so perfect because it lets us continue a little further with this dynamic couple. If you read other books in the Vested Interest world, make sure you have extra tissues on hand when you experience the extended epilogue. Don’t worry, though, because although you may need tissues at times when you read this book, there are plenty of hilarious moments and super steamy ones to balance it all out.
