Finding His Mark

Finding His Mark
by Brittney Sahin

My review:

“Finding His Mark” is a fast-paced romantic suspense story by Brittney Sahin. It’s the first book in the ‘Stealth Ops’ series and sets the stage for more excellent stories to come. The characters and plot are multi-layered and kept me engaged and involved right until the very end.

Eva is part of a rich and well-known Hollywood family, but she’s determined to succeed on her own in TV/movie production. She’s been successfully accomplishing that goal as a writer and co-producer for a popular TV series about Navy SEALs. When there’s a much-needed break in production, she heads for a family vacation home in the mountains. The last thing she expects is that she’s going to end up in the middle of a dangerous, real-life situation with a mysterious stranger. Luke, the leader of a black ops SEAL team, is an expert at living life in the shadows. No romantic relationships, no real friendships outside his team, mission focus always – it’s the only way to survive a life that must be led in secret. He always has a plan and more than one contingency plan. In the middle of a carefully planned operation in the mountains, the last thing he expects is for the woman he rented a house from to show up on the property at the worst possible time. Her presence puts the mission and both their lives in danger.

Eva and Luke both have serious trust issues and plenty of things to hide; these are not characters for whom a relationship could be an easy thing, even if they’d ever admit it was something appealing. The scorching hot chemistry between them further complicates and intensifies everything. The story gets complex, but all the pieces ultimately fit into place. There are excellent secondary characters who round out the story and also provide moments of humor. I thought the dialogue and the banter were done really well. I enjoyed the story from the first paragraph until the last.
