Possessive Devil
by B.B. Hamel
My review:
I just read this book in one sitting because I couldn’t put it down. “Possessive Devil” is an intense dark mafia romance by B. B. Hamel, and it’s a standalone story.’ In my opinion, it’s also one of her best.
Grace has spent months working at a job to hopefully put her in a position to get information about what happened to her beloved cousin, Riley. She knows it has something to do the Manzini crime family, but that’s about all she knows. Calvino Manzini has a very specific role in the organization that is his family. When as his employee, Grace is caught doing something that should warrant her death, he suddenly finds himself hesitating, which he never does. He makes a decision to find out a whole lot more about her, and that changes both of their lives. I know I’m not describing much about the plot, but that’s because this story is so full of the unexpected that I truly don’t want to ruin it for you. It’s better to experience it for yourself.
From the first page of the book, Grace is an intriguing character. As more and more is revealed about her, she becomes increasingly compelling. Calvino is unexpected from start to finish. The heat and connection between them are explosive. Make sure you pay attention to the trigger warning at the beginning of the book. Within this story you’ll find loyalty and betrayal, kindness and viciousness, lies told and truths kept hidden, and a startling barrage of twists and turns that don’t end until the book does.
