Cowboy in the Crosshairs

Cowboy in the Crosshairs
by Em Petrova

My review:

“Cowboy in the Crosshairs” is the 4th book in the ‘WEST Protection’ series by Em Petrova.  It’s an opposites-attract, action-adventure story with interesting characters and plenty of excitement, passion, intrigue and danger.

Silas is finally fully recovered from surgery and treatment for cancer, and he’s eager to prove that he’s fully recovered and back to 100% to his abilities. He’s confident that there’s no job he can’t successfully take on. Windi is the socialite daughter of an incredibly wealthy businessman in New York City.  All anybody cares about is how she looks and her social calendar, but she secretly has a much more humanitarian heart than anyone would imagine. When her father insists on hiring her a bodyguard. Windi.  Silas is bored, tagging along on shopping trips and lunch dates. When she absconds with him to Mexico he thinks it’s going to be to a resort. The truth is startling and impressive, but then becomes shockingly dangerous.

Silas and Windi have much more in common than either one of them realizes at first. Even though their lives are incredibly different, their personalities and their values are very much alike. The unexpected happenings in this book are emotional and dramatic. I was disappointed that Windi understood the massive corruption in the Mexican government, and understood that men are biased against dealing with women, and yet she refused to get some help. She naively and arrogantly thought she could overcome all of that by herself.  By the time you get to the end of the story, you deserve the wonderful ending as much as the lead characters do.
