Black Jack

Black Jack
by Ali Parker

My review:

“Black Jack” is the first book in ‘The Devil’s Luck MC’, a great new series by Ali Parker.  It’s a story filled with action, emotion and vivid characters.

Jackson is a former Navy SEAL who returns home to find that his younger brother has recently been killed by Bates, the leader of another motorcycle club. Bates and his crew have been systematically taking over the town and tormenting the residents. Samantha owns and operates the popular local bar that she inherited from her father. She’s been pressured by Bates for several years already because he wants the bar and he wants her.  No matter how many times she rebuffs him, he’s only getting more insistent and threatening. Jackson and Samantha barely knew each other before he left town years ago to join the Navy, but when they meet again now the chemistry between them is off the charts. Separately and together, and with the members of his MC, they’re going to go through the fires of hell right there in their own hometown as they seek justice for Jackson’s brother, and to rid everybody of the scourge that is Bates and that evil man’s crew.

This is a very engaging story with steadily rising tensions. I have to say I stayed up way too late reading, because I kept being anxious to find out what would happen next. The secondary characters are great and have me looking forward to the rest of the series. This book has a ‘happy for now’ and ‘hopeful’ ending that will undoubtedly continue in the next story.  Personally, I’m looking forward to reading about Jackson’s younger sister and the vice-president of the MC!

(I read an advanced copy of this book and also ordered a copy.)
